A paid plan is one monthly allowance of usage that calls and texts share; Pro's is 3× Starter's. Usage is metered the way our carrier bills us: each answered call by the minute, rounded up, plus a little to set it up; each text by SMS segment, each picture message as one message. Unanswered calls are never counted. Your account page shows the percentage left, and it resets every billing period. One call at a time, any hour of any day; beyond that, your plan is the only limit.

What counts as a call on the free plan?
A call someone picked up and said something on. Busy, no-answer and voicemail results are free and do not count, and neither does a call where the other side hung up without a word. A free text counts once the carrier accepts it.
How is usage measured?
On what each call or text costs us to carry. An answered call spends a small fixed amount plus an amount per connected minute, rounded up to the next minute with a one-minute minimum, the way the carrier bills us; unanswered calls spend nothing. A text spends an amount per SMS segment (about 160 characters); a picture message spends about twice a text, whether your agent sends it or you send one back. You only ever see the percentage of the month's allowance left; a call is capped at what is left, and the agent wraps up before the limit.
What does the allowance come to?
Starter: about 19 minutes of calls in a month if it all went on calls, or about 162 texts if it all went on texts; Pro: about 57 minutes of calls in a month if it all went on calls, or about 487 texts if it all went on texts. Calls set up as one-minute calls cost a little more per minute than one long call.
Can I switch between Starter and Pro?
Yes. Moving up to Pro takes effect immediately and the difference is prorated. Moving down happens from the billing portal and takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for: Pro's allowance stays until then, and your account page shows the date.
When does the allowance reset?
At the start of each billing period, shown on your account page.
Can I cancel?
Any time, from the billing portal on your account page. Your plan and its allowance stay on until the end of the period you paid for; your account page shows the date it ends.
